It was Trex I used for the plain ones but I can see how a 50/50 mix would work better. I'm desperately trying to get better with the photography so appreciate your comments. I agree with you about adding oil - that is something I would not add to scones; my recipe for scones is half white fat (Trex) and half butter (or margarine) for a light flake and crisp texture with a soft inside.
